The Deal

Get up close to wildlife and immerse yourself in the local culture with this small group tour. Spend two nights in Guayaquil where you'll visit a working Cocoa Plantation to learn about the history and current modern bean processing, enjoy lunch before an afternoon city tour. Experience the stunning panoramic views from Santa Ana Hill and an evening welcome dinner to get acquainted with your fellow travelers.

Depart for the Galapagos Islands where your naturalist guides accompany you on a ferry to Santa Cruz Island. View the volcanic sinkholes known as Los Gemelos and enjoy lunch before continuing by speed boat to Puerto Ayora to visit the small village of Puerto Villamil on Isabela Island where you'll spend the next three nights.

Over the next two days enjoy a dingy ride to Tintoreras Islet where you'll have a chance to view and snorkel with sea lions, turtles, penguins & marine iguanas. Hike to Sierra Negra, one of the most active volcanoes on the archipelago, and trek across lava fields and explore thermal vents as well as other unique geological features. Explore the magnificent Turtle Breeding Center to learn more about the Galapagos Tortoises before visiting the El Chato Reserve where you'll observe the giant tortoises.

Next, head back to Ecuador to visit the Middle of the World Monument, located at a latitude of 0º. Then, head to Papallacta in the Andes Mountains where you'll experience the thermal springs before continuing onto the Ecuadorian Amazon. Journey deep into the Amazon, the world's largest ecosystem, take in the views from the canopy walk suspended 120 feet above the forest floor, try your hand at paddling a dugout canoe and keep an eye out for all of the wildlife! Learn about the Kichwa lifestyle including traditional pottery, local food and handmade goods at the Nueva Providencia Interpretation Center.

Depart the Amazon for three nights in Quito and discover the historic colonial quarter, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. View the wondrous scenery of Cotopaxi National Park including the Cotopaxi Volcano. Your farewell dinner will give you a chance to share stories with the other travelers before heading home!
