Our tour guide Derek went above and beyond, his attitude was so good! He had us singing on the bus, laughing and always answered us with kindness and patience. Derek is definitely in my top 3 favorite Gate1 tour guides (to date) he kept the walking pace at a good rate, his knowledge and history of each place we visited was top notch! The bathroom breaks along the way were nice and comfortable. All in all, the 11 day affordable Germany, France, Switzerland & Austria departing March 12, 2024 did NOT disappoint. Thank you, Gate1 Travel, for all the attention to detail, perfect planning, nice hotels, great food, and for taking care of my group of 14 travelers (the trip was a full trip) in such a caring way...some of my group had NEVER been out of the country before and Derek AND our bus driver made everyone feel safe and comfortable.

This was probably the best trip I have ever taken, and I was surprised that I liked all four cities as much as I did. Our tour guide Soma was absolutely great. The lodging was good to great (Hilton) and the food had reasonable food options for a non-beef eating family. Our driver was friendly and helpful and clearly very skilled. The subcontractor guides like Jara we're all very good. There was adequate free time to go on our own, but I wouldn't have missed out added your options. You guys always do a great job choosing hotels, food, and guides. We always recommend you to friends.

I just want to say I'm always pleased with Gate 1 travel and recommend your company to all my family and friends! This last trip I just loved our guide Agnas and our driver Chris! Actually, the same goes for all past guides and drivers on the trips we've taken! They become like family after a few days of traveling together! I'm always a little sad to say goodbye knowing I'll never see them again!

His experience, intelligence, awareness of the Country and its history and current social and political atmosphere was unparalleled. Our trip was absolutely amazing. What an amazing spectacular time. We were so impressed with how organized and well thought of this trip was. I had the pleasure of traveling alongside my mother and sister and we selected the "10-Day Affordable Germany, France, Switzerland, & Austria" tour. I only have great things to say about our experience! First and foremost our travel director, Julian, is the best. This was our first Gate1Travel tour, and Julian made sure to provide us with the best experience. I still have the travel bug and am looking into another trip with Gate1 already! Some of the many things he did was, make sure that we were informed of departure times, recommendations on food places, where to find the best souvenirs, and even took the time to show us the "local way" of navigating and seeing most of everything we could think of and more! Our bus driver, Paul, was also a great asset to Gate1Travels. He kept us safe and made sure we were able to travel the 750+ miles to see the beautiful countries on our itinerary. The hotels, food, and itinerary on this trip were great! Our tour dates were at the end of February/beginning of March, which was right before the start of peak season in these various countries, but that did not affect us at all! We still found places to eat, shop at, and enjoy during each of our stops. The scenery in this area of Europe was truly breathtaking. It is mostly a Germanic-style area, but each stop had its own individual beauty and uniqueness that had me and my family in awe. I hope to return another time and will be requesting the same amazing staff members to have another A++ experience.

First, I would like to tell you how amazing Katarina is as a Tour Manager. I cannot say enough about how wonderful she is! Her sense of humor is so fun! I also want to put in a good word for our tour bus driver, Conrad. He has excellent driving skills, a great personality and was always right there to help. The hotel choices were excellent for both what they offer but also for their location. We were able to easily walk to destinations from each. The local tour guides had a wealth of information to offer and included a good dose of humor in their presentations. I always felt well informed and could find out any needed information easily. Gate 1 is a super group, and I would certainly travel with you again.

Thank you for all you did to make it a highly enjoyable travel experience. Clays was the perfect guide; very knowledgeable, experienced, and attentive to the smallest details. The accommodations and coach assured our comfort. The itinerary was well-balanced with can't miss sites and leisurely free time. Food doesn't have to be too extravagant for my tastes but the meal selections and locations were great. Rarely does a trip with so many moving parts not experience a hiccup along the way but this one went without a hitch. Thanks again; looking forward to Greece and Turkey in March.

Marc was fantastic and extremely cordial each day. His travel tips, local maps (annotated), and local details made the entire trip more interesting and worthwhile.

I have done many trips with Gate One and I have enjoyed them all. This truly was the best trip I have ever had with Gate One. Marc was a great tour guide. The hotels were very nice. Truthfully my only complaint was it was too short.

I wanted to mention our Tour group manager/guide Nadine and our driver Libor. Our guide manager was excellent. She was there every step of the way to help us is needed. Pleasantly suggested areas to visit in our free time when asked. Our group was only 11 and when she told us about our free time in a location she was very helpful about things to see in the area and if we wanted to venture out a little farther she was very helpful in that regard also. Even down to Walking us to the train station to ensure we purchased the correct train tickets. To me that truly showed her concern for us and her willingness to ensure we got the most of our time in any particular area. I know this was not in her duties but showed how fortunate we were to have her as our group manager/guide. This was my first gate1 tour as well as my travel partners and we were very impressed! We all as a group felt very welcomed by her and several our our tour group had been on countless Gate1 tours and they even mentioned how much they enjoyed her as our tour guide. I thoroughly enjoyed our tour. We had such an amazing time I haven't stopped telling my clients and my husband how much I look forward to booking with Gate1 in the future. I normally plan our trips my self. We travel several times a year and love traveling abroad. Gate1 will absolutely be at the top of my looking list when considering booking future vacations. Our driver was very courteous and helpful getting on and off the bus as well as assisting us with our luggage. Great trip as always. Tour director Dennis was excellent. Dennis went above and beyond in every way. Dennis daily delights were unexpected. I can't say enough about all the extras he did. We couldn't go up to Mt Platius because of the wind. He arranged for us to go to Mt Rigi instead. What a great time. Mt Rigi should be a backup for Mt Platius all the time. Dennis took us all on a boat ride on Lake Lugano. He bought us all hot chocolate. He arranged for us to get fondue in Gruyee. Got us an extra glass of wine during the welcome dinner and more. What a tour guide. You know this guy loves his job. Thank you for the memories.

We had an AMAZING time during our Affordable 8-day Switzerland tour! Our FABOULOUS tour manager, Dennis, made our tour every more exceptional! I have taken many tours through Gate 1, and all tours have not disappointed. However, Dennis, made extra efforts to make our time in Switzerland beyond exceptional. He provided us with wonderful suggestions to eat and visit during our free time. In addition, during his own free time, he guided us through the cities, providing us with his own "tours", which were lovingly called "Dennis Delights". As mention, I have taken multiple tours through Gate 1, and all tour guides have been great, however, Dennis exceeded our expectations and went beyond. THANK YOU DENNIS! Not only did Dennis provide us with excellent customer service, we was able to arrange the visit to Mt. Rigi when Mt. Pilatus tour was cancelled due to weather. The tour to Mt. Rigi was one of the highlights of our tour. We were all very disappointed when we learned that Mt. Pilatus was cancelled, but Dennis commitment to us and his pride as a tour guide, made it happen to Mt. Rigi. I highly suggest making Mt. Rigi an alternative if Mt. Pilatus is cancelled due to weather. AGAIN, THANK YOU DENNIS, and THANK YOU GATE 1!

I would like to take the opportunity to say how wonderful was our 8 Day Affordable Switzerland tour that we came back just now (December 2023). It took time during the Christmas season and Switzerland was very beautiful. Daily itinerary was carefully organized, we saw a lot of places that we would never visit if go by ourselves. We traveled with my daughter, it was my 3rd tour with Gate1 and 1st for her. We had amazing time!! Special thanks to our tour manager Mihaela, she took care of everything - always with smile and positive attitude. She gave helpful advises and made sure that we are comfortable and safe. I would book the tour with her again without any doubt! In general - our Switzerland tour was enjoyable and we will be looking forward to our next adventure with Gate1!

Once again, Gate 1 did not disappoint. Our recent trip to the Christmas Markets of Switzerland & France was enchanting. The hotels were top notch and centrally located, and our tour guide Beatrice and bus driver Vitili were awesome. Basel, Colmar, Obernai. Strasbourg, Zurich, Lucerne, Bern & Lugano - we visited Christmas Markets in every one of these towns! The decorations, the atmosphere, and the gluhwein were amazing in each place, and we truly enjoyed all the wonderful people we met on our tour. We have been contemplating a Christmas Market tour for years, and we are so happy we booked this, our 10th tour with Gate 1. We already have two more trips booked, and we recommend Gate 1 often. People cannot believe what we do for the price we pay - one woman even asked me if we stay in hostels because the price is so reasonable!! I laughed, and told her we stay in 4 and 5 star hotels!! Thanks, Gate 1, for making our dreams of traveling a reality.

It was my first trip and my fiance's second one with Gate1 (I actually proposed on the trip). Everyone in our group was friendly and welcoming. The tour guide Marijah was amazing. She was so friendly, knowledgeable and funny. She went above and beyond accommodating the group, recommending activities, and treating the group with special treats. We would definitely do another trip with Gate1 and especially with Marijah. 5-Stars in our eyes.

To summarize in a word- Outstanding! The entire trip was choreographed and executed by our tour manager, Annemarie in a perfect manner. No details were left unattended and any obstacles were cleared easily. Her professionalism and dedication to her craft shined. The local tour guides were good and we enjoyed the city tours. As this was our first guided tour we have no real reference to the hotel's although all were above average in our opinion. The bus driver, Pavo was skilled, prompt and punctual. Lastly your help organizing and booking was fantastic!

This was my first trip to Europe and I did do a lot of research with travel companies - some recommended by friends, however, this particular tour had everything I was looking for so I decided to book it. I could NOT be happier that I did. Bogdan was an EXCEPTIONAL Tour Manager - and Rafa was SUPERB as our driver. Both caring individuals who only had our best interest in mind. Bogdan went above and beyond for our group and made this 1st trip for me special and memorable. He has a heart of gold and it shows day in and day out. He truly cares about his job and the people he oversees on these tours. I cannot say enough about him. I would take 100 trips with Gate 1 if I could be assured that I'd have Bogdan as my Tour Manager. I want to commend Gate 1 for the accommodations as well. Each Hotel was as good or better than the previous. Breakfast excellent, service, comfortable. I cannot stop talking about my experience. This was a first trip with Gate 1 but will NOT be my last. This was our first trip with Gate1, but I'm sure it will not be our last. We had such a great time. The only thing we would ask for is more time in Salzburg. It seemed we didn't get much time there. But Mihaela made this trip so enjoyable! She always had a smile on her face and was very knowledgeable anytime we had questions. Her positive attitude and suggestions for us at every stop just added excitement with every new city adventure. So happy that we had her as our guide for our first trip with Gate 1.

Our trip was so amazing! And all the credit should go towards our guide Mihaela. She made every aspect of our trip magical. We always knew what was coming up and what our options were. She took care of every need we had while on our trip. We were traveling with our 9 year old son and she made him feel included and important. All while making sure we were comfortable having our child in foreign countries. I can not race enough about what all she did for us. We are hoping to book a trip again with her soon!

It was wonderful Bart was amazing. I forgot my phone at the hotel in Munich. He had it waiting for us when we got back into Germany at Heidelberg. As this was my 1st time ever booking a vacation through a tour company I had some concerns. Everything was perfect. Your experience showed with the timing. We never felt rushed plenty of time to explore each stop but not to much time that we got bored. The 5 county travel day wow Bart made it feel like a real adventure each new country, each stop, the roads little bits of knowledge passed out in such a was felt like being read a great book. Then there was Slavamere what a skilled driver driving that bus through the mountains on some of those roads, smooth as silk. I have no concerns about Gate1 now. Looking forward to traveling with you again soon.

Once again Gate 1 outdid themselves with a fantastic tour and a great price. We really appreciated the efforts made to keep our tour on schedule despite the rising water levels on the rivers and canal. Soma outdid himself helping to ensure our lost luggage arrived. We really feel it would not have happened without his assistance and many efforts. He was always upbeat, even when things were not going to plan, and he is an excellent representative of Gate 1. We really hope to see him again on a future cruise. Daniele was fantastic. He was fun and funny, enthusiastic, and did a wonderful job ensuring we were all entertained. He made us want to attend the evening entertainment in the lounge. We ended up eating every meal in the same area of the dining room because we so enjoyed Indra and Phyo. They learned our usual drink orders and had them ready for us the moment we sat down. Excellent customer service! Lilly, our room steward, took excellent care of our room and always greeted us, asking if there was anything we needed when passing in the hallways. Again, excellent customer service. All-in-all, this was a great experience. We had never done a full river cruise before, but will certainly be back!

I loved this trip! The pace was so relaxing. The markets and towns visited were festive and fun. The ship was comfortable and the crew couldn't do enough to keep things running smoothly, the ship clean and the food and wine flowing. The quality of the food and drinks on board was amazing. I will definitely be taking more Gate 1 river cruises.

We had a great time. Enjoyed the Christmas markets, loved Regensburg! Had missed seeing the Rezidence in Wurzburg last time we were there, so really wanted to see the inside and was not disappointed. Could not believe Frankfurt's Christmas Market went on forever and we thought it was larger than Nuremburg's (which we had been to several times before). Overall, it definitely was a great vacation and service aboard the Monarch Governess was excellent. Other than losing a gold earring trying on hats, it was a wonderful vacation.

We loved our guide Gaby and the driver Frank. Frank made sure to get us to our destinations safely. Even when Munich had received the largest snowfall they've had in a while. Some of the streets and even the public transportation was closed but Frank got us to our destination safely. Gabby is very kindhearted and kept our Group and check. She's also very generous! She purchased local candies for us to try, and local pastries. She even had a fun game of find the longest German word which my Husband won. He received a beautiful Christmas ornament as a prize. The Christmas markets were absolutely breathtaking with all of the fresh snow that hit the area. This trip truly was magical. we had some friends traveling with us, and they really enjoyed the experience that gate one Has to offer. We will continue to use your company for some of our travels.

This was a magical trip. It was so wonderful. Everything was perfect. I just wished it was a bit longer. The Monarch Queen is a beautiful vessel. The stateroom was perfect, lots of storage space. The Lady that took care of our room, Irena was the sweetest lady. We truly enjoyed everything about the trip. The food was very good, the presentation was amazing. I look forward to take another river cruise on the Monarch Queen. It was a perfect vacation. Bart was very professional, accommodating and willing to help everyone. Good job Gate1.

I can not say enough positive things about our Christmas Markets tour. It's our first time with Gate 1 and we loved everything about our trip. Our tour director Thomas was beyond amazing. He made every part of the experience fun, organized and so incredibly worth it. He is a gem! Thank you for a great trip!

The trip was wonderful! The sights will stay with us forever. So much to see and try to absorb. (What took us so long?) Was expecting to see far less than we did. Had no idea we would be immersed in the local cultures like we were, with special recognition to our Tour Manager, Sophie, and the local guides. Gate1 was attentive to all our needs for the entire trip, and everything was so well planned. On our first bus trip to the river cruise, Sophie, in her heavy French accent asked if the group minded her voice. She then said, "In a week you will miss it." She was right. To our surprise, even the bus trips were used as an opportunity to detail such things as local customs, historical event connections, and interactions of the people and countries. We had rain the first 5 days, then about 8" of snow the day we went to Mt. Pilatus. It restricted our view, but the snow seemed more realistic for our surroundings. We looked forward to seeing a Christmas Market on the trip. Had no idea we'd be at 7 of them. The architecture throughout the tour was just fascinating. We went through maybe 6 churches that almost took our breath away. Our group was composed of people from all over the U.S. We found the group easy to interact with and made a lot of friends. In the 8 days together as a group we covered a lot of territory and took a ton of pictures. The memories will last us a very long time.

Our first trip ever with Gate1 and it was everything we had hoped for and more. We are long term Grand Circle travelers, but Gate1 now has us hooked. My wife Mary Ann has had Switzerland on her to go list for decades, but we were always reluctant because of the high prices. When a friend told us about Gate1 and we saw this incredible deal, we were amazed and so snagged it. The day before our Mt Pilatus tour we sadly learned it was cancelled because of weather, but our incredible director Dennis was able to book our group on a cogwheel train up Mt Rigi! Thank you Gate1 for this perfect length affordable Switzerland tour.

It was a memorable trip. We are a group of six people traveling together. The cruise allowed us to spend more time than we would have on a land tour. We hung out in the lounge, enjoyed tea, hot chocolate and cookies. The crew never failed to restock the goodies. The crew of the Monarch Governess is a bunch of fun and friendly people. Our regular servers, Necat, Joko and Ega always had smiles on their faces during meals. Desy, our room steward, was the nicest and most helpful with our questions and needs. Andreas was always ready to replenish our drinks and cookies. Everyone from the top, Lucian the GM to George (aka George Clooney), the maître d, down to every staff member we ran across seemed to love and enjoy their jobs. It was a fun atmosphere on the ship. We found out that the executive chef, Ketut, was Indonesian the first night we were on board. Lucian took the time to grab him from the kitchen to introduce him to our table. Ketut prepared us some ethnic dishes for us one night. Daniele, the activity director, was the funniest person. Lorin was also most helpful. My mom has difficulty walking. The day we were to embark on the ship, we started the day with a hilly tour which she opted not to join. He arranged a taxi to take her to the ship so she could check in ahead of the group. Later on, he showed me a picture of my mom with Daniele on the ship to let me know she arrived safely.

Our recent Danube River Cruise was more than I anticipated in terms of how much we saw and accomplished. Loved the Monarch Empress from start to finish. Crew and staff were superb.

The whole experienced was beyond expectations. Karol (Kayo) our tour manager did an amazing job. He is very knowledgeable, friendly & a joy to travel with. He also had a lot of surprises & go extra mile to enhance our experience. Our entire group bonded like a small travel family, Thanks to Gate1 & Kayo. We cannot express enough gratitude to Gate1 & Kayo for an amazing holiday. Looking forward to our next Gate1 travel adventures.

Absolutely amazing!! Tereza was a fantastic tour guide and wonderful wealth of information! The hotels were perfectly placed and all exceeded our wildest expectations! I honestly can't believe how well everything went truly a great trip and I've already recommended this company and especially that tour to several of my colleagues and friends!! My first gate 1 trip with my fiancé who had traveled many times with gate 1. I was so impressed! First off, Nad is just a Rockstar. He is funny, kind, caring, talented and I could go on and on. I would take a cruise with him again no matter the destination. You're blessed to have him. Period. Soma is great as well. I always felt they truly cared about your enjoyment and safety. Our servers Jacinta and Amr were so sweet and professional. We sat in the same spot daily to be with them. The bartender Marius was so kind, fun and remembered everything. Nurtilek was sweet. Marius from the restaurant was hilarious and helpful. The chef threw down some awesome meals and exposed us to local flavors. What a joyous adventure.

My wife and I just finished the 7 Day Gate 1 Regensburg to Budapest Danube River Cruise and I have only accolades and praise to pass on to all Gate 1 employees involved on this trip. Everyone we came into contact from Gate 1 was not only professional but also knowledgeable about the ship (Monarch Governess) and all of our port of calls along the beautiful Danube. The sailing itself was well planned with amazing local guides at each stop to educate and inform on the local history and sights. You were always given enough free time at each stop to explore on your own or just relax back at your cabin/ship. The extra tours provided were well worth the money spent as we were always glad we had signed up for them. The ship and our cabin were very comfortable, kept spotlessly clean, and I would compare favorable to any of the other companies (Including Viking) providing river cruises along the Danube. The meals provided were amazing with lots of variety and always served with a smile! As I mentioned above, all of the crew and Gate 1 Employees on our ship were amazing but I wanted to single out the following staff as I believe they went above and beyond. Our Cruise Director Nora is exactly what Gate 1 should aspire to hire for anyone considered for that position. Knowledgeable, punctual, amazing communicator, boundless energy and above all kind and courteous. She always presented herself as a professional representative for Gate 1 and never hesitated to assist with any issue big or small. Her narration from the sun deck as we sailed down the Danube should be recorded as training's for other new cruise directors! The other crew members I believe earned recognition during our sailing were Deny, Dika and Dino who made every meal on the boat a treat! and Desy our housekeeper who kept our room spotless and greeted us every morning with a big smile and good morning! A few minor mentions of things that could improve. The WiFi was very slow and not consistent. The two water bottles left in the room each day were appreciated but consider another brand as the caps were almost impossible to twist off without spilling the water and leaving part of the cap attached which made it hard to drink. Small things but I have no doubt Gate 1 strives for perfection. Thanks again for a great river cruise and we look forward to our next Gate 1 adventure!

This is regarding the 12 days Danube river cruise Oct 29 to Nov 11 on the Monarch Queen instead of the Monarch Empress. Thank you so so much for such a great experience. We were so impressed with the level of service and how organized everyone was. We had such a great time and a lasting memory of the trip.

I loved the 11-Day Danube River Cruise with Budapest and Prague. The staff was extraordinary and made the trip a dream. First of all the cruise director, Bart, kept us rolling in the aisles with his sense of humor and quick wit. I really enjoyed his commentary and his daily updates. The servers were great. They gave top notch service, always there to help. We had two wonderful nights of entertainment from outside the ship. The evening games and talent night were also outstanding. Laura did a great job running the activities. I enjoyed her smile and enthusiasm. All of the tour guides were very knowledgeable and friendly. Everything ran on time. I was very impressed with the punctuality of the group. We had wonderful food. It was nice to try food that was native to the culture we were touring. It really couldn't have been a better trip. I highly recommend it to everyone. The only thing I would do is have the guide available in the courtesy lounge in Prague a few more hours or make sure that she announces that there are limited hours to meet with her.

We have been on numerous trips with your company and have had excellent tour guides. However Egos and the driver were by far the best we have encountered. On a scale of 1-10 they both are at a 12+ level. They went above and beyond to meet the needs of everyone on the trip. Egos suggested many leisure time activities and places of interest to enjoy. He was extremely knowledgeable about each of the 4 countries we visited. He was such a nice person it was a pleasure to have him and the driver as our leaders through these countries. It was a trip we won't soon forget!

Our trip to Europe was great, we enjoyed seeing the new sites and learning about each country and city. The tour guide assigned to our trip "Dean" was fabulous. Dean talked to us each day on the bus and explained what area of the country and the names of the cities, mountains and sites we would be viewing. I felt I was getting a good education each day on the sites and cities we would be visiting. Dean was also helpful with directing us to future trips and details we were interested in. He was always kind and extremely knowledgeable on any topic. I felt safe and comfortable with Dean as a tour guide. What an asset he is to GATE1.

This was our first trip to Europe and our first trip with Gate 1. The entire experience was amazing. We had lots of information prior to the trip to alleviate any concerns we had about travel arrangements to Frankfort and connections with the Gate 1 representative who met us at the airport. All Gate 1 representatives were professional and very personable. Our trip manager Justin helped make our trip extremely memorable. He was professional, knowledgeable about all of the destinations and suggestions for activities in our free time. His organizational skills were excellent- he let us know the upcoming plans, scheduling and kept us on track while making all of the this so much fun. We now have many new friends, amazing memories and will definitely book another Gate 1 tour in the future.
